Along with filmmaking, Basketball is a true passion of ours which made it a no brainer when Ryan Sidhoo producer/director and Shirley Vercruysse from National Film Board of Canada approached us to cut the official trailer for True North, a 9 part doc series chronicling the rise of Toronto’s grassroots Basketball world.
Coincidently, Toronto Raptors won their first chip on the heels of the project.
“The series follows contemporary coming-of-age stories as they unfold in an evolving city, sharing a unique Canadian experience that’s rooted in generational immigration. At its heart, True North is about ambition, the pursuit of full-ride scholarships, and the intersection of luck and opportunity.”

To promote “this once in a lifetime” series, Director Ryan Sidhoo and Dino collaborated closely throughout the process. With both having extensive basketball knowledge, it was equally satisfying to sit down in a handful of supervised sessions to hash out the tone and feel for a project that is very personal to the director.
The final cut needed to showcase the film’s depth and access but also its slick style and pace. With constant collaboration, patience and fine-tuning, the trailers were well received by the filmmaking team as well as the audience, being shared heavily across various social media platforms.
