Trust builds excellence, and that’s why we were so excited when our friends at UNR and Anomaly asked us to grade Sean McLeod’s 30s Crown The Night Budweiser spot for the US and European markets, along an extended Directors’ cut edited by Sean himself. All remote supervised sessions, using our cloud-based system, followed by a round of ice cold Buds!
The biggest challenge on Crown the Night was to create a realistic night time environment while wrangling the scorching saturation of the red LEDs. “Using some gamut compression I was able to roll off the LEDs and give them a deeper Colour” says our colourist, Adam Kemp.
“My colour palette for these scenes was Budweiser Red and Blue Jeans. These complimentary colours help create a pleasant look, while the ambience of the urban setting helped provide the most of the mood.“

Since we weren’t burdened with realism when coming up with the look, we could push creative and technical boundaries – thanks in large part to the Anomaly team’s brave creative direction.
We had to take in consideration all the special effects and overlays while grading Sean’s directors cut. Cheers!
